A growing wave of support is emerging across social media, with women in France publicly standing in solidarity with Muslim women who wear the hijab (Islamic veil).
The movement comes in response to the far-right National Rally (RN) announcing that, if it wins the 2027 French presidential election, it intends to pursue a ban on wearing the hijab.
The RN’s lawmakers confirmed that wearing a hijab in public would become an offense punishable by a financial penalty.
