A Muslim shouldn't lie. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Adhere to truthfulness, for truthfulness leads to righteousness."
But people aren't all the same. Some are weak and lie out of fear, or for personal gain, or to make themselves look good.
Not all of them are liars, but the truthful ones...
