Some guys on here don't know how to respect boundaries. To them, it makes no sense that I chose a rear-view picture as my profile photo on JAMAA. Some have gone as far as saying:

"When you hide your face, it means you're hiding sadness."
Or, "I find it interesting that you decided to turn your back on the world."

One thing everyone needs to understand is that we all have our reasons for the decisions we make.

Those who knew my account in the first week know I actually started with a normal picture — a professional one. Then I realized how many people send offensive messages straight to a woman's DM. I really did find some of them offensive. Why would a stranger tell me his sister has seen him naked and ask what he should do?
So many messages like that, that I wonder how Muslimahs on here who post their pictures even videos regularly like regular socials cope. At some point, I felt a complete representation of myself simply wasn't safe here.
Later I used an almost-full image, then changed it again to avoid the same obnoxious attention. In fact, I've shared my actual marriage profile with a few serious people who approached me respectfully here.
So yes, I used a rear picture.
Does that mean I'm hiding sadness? No.
Does that mean I'm turning my back on the world? Absolutely not.
Should this even be up for discussion? I wonder why it is.
Respect is learning to accept people's choices when those choices have no impact on your life.
