Whenever I need mental stimulation without the unnecessary drama I come to this app, especially the Jamaa timeline. What I’ve noticed is despite normative claims to the deen and strong inclinations to our faith, our humanity persistently keeps leaking in the comment section. @muzz I think we need an algorithmic referee to handle some people in those comment sections 😹😹😹. It’s fire though so there’s also that 😆.

On the surface you can clearly see the diversity of opinion on a fundamental issue like dating & marriage, or ***, or the perception of reverts vs cradles. But a deeper issue emerging is a lack of tolerance and patience to engage in meaningful debate, even if at the end of the day few people will agree on key issues. I’ve seen brothers and sisters cussing each other out, saying the most insane things against persons they have never met or have any idea about. Where’s the love fam?

Surah Al-Qasas (28:84) emphasizes on Ihsan. Do we lose our footing when the conversation gets tougher or is our faith and anchoring a mere posturing to the world?

Love from your recent Kenyan brother and revert 🫶🏽.

The partition of Pakistan from India is, of course, a super controversial topic. To make it simple, there were three opinions amongst Muslim scholars on the partition. Opinion 1 was that Muslims should not create a new Pakistan. This was the opinion of Shaykh Husain Madani and Shaykh Abul Kalaam Azaad, a famous Saudi trained Indian scholar. The second opinion, championed by Allaamah Iqbal and Maulana Shabbir Ahmad Usmani, was Pakistan has to be created to establish a Muslim land. The third and final opinion, held by Sayyid Ala al Maudoodi, was that both sides are wrong and there should not be a nationalism focus in a new created land. There should be an islamic khilaafat focus. God knows best.
