Additional Information About the Mecca Clock: Height and Weight: The Clock Tower rises 601 meters, and according to reports from the Saudi Press Agency, the total weight of the clock structure reaches approximately 36,000 tons. Clock Faces: The clock has four faces. Each of the two main lateral faces measures 43 by 43 meters. Decorations: Above the clock is the phrase “Allahu Akbar,” with the letter “Alif” in the word “Allah” measuring more than 23 meters in height. The structure is also crowned with a crescent measuring 23 meters in diameter. Timekeeping: The Mecca Time Center is connected to the global UTC time network. Illumination: During the call to prayer (Adhan), the clock is illuminated using 21,000 green and white LED lights, which can be seen from several kilometers away."
