Waited 4 months for minor surgery today and I received a call in the morning to say it's been cancelled.
Annoying, but understandable if doctors have been taken away to emergency and urgent cases.
It reminds me of all the times I've been sat in A&E listening to people complain about waiting 2-4-6 hours. The longest I've been sat in A&E is 16 hours whilst waiting for a medical bed.
Over the last 10 years I'd say the average wait is around 6 hours before seeing a Doctor.
If you're able to talk, walk, breathe, be grateful and wait patiently. There are people on the other side of the wall not able to do those things, some even taking their final breath.

Official Advice: What the UK Government Wants You to Stock Up On

The UK Government officially advises all households to be prepared for unexpected emergency disruptions—such as severe flash flooding, prolonged power grid failures, or targeted infrastructure cyberattacks—by keeping a self-contained kit of emergency supplies.
National resilience guidelines specify that every home should ideally stock up on enough non-perishable food and bottled water to sustain everyone in the property independently for a minimum of three days. The goal of this initiative is to ensure that if public utilities are temporarily cut off, families can safely manage their own immediate survival baseline, allowing emergency services to immediately focus their resources on rescuing the most vulnerable populations.

The Official "Be Ready" Household Resilience Checklist

The UK Government's official Be Ready Campaign advises all households to prepare a basic emergency kit containing enough supplies to manage independently for up to three days (72 hours). This proactive measure ensures that if severe weather, flash flooding, or infrastructure cyberattacks temporarily disrupt utilities, emergency services can immediately prioritize the most vulnerable populations.

A Research Report published in the renowned journal ‘CRITICAL PAKISTAN STUDIES’ of Cambridge University Press has included the political and digital struggle of OVERSEAS PAKISTANI YOUTH SHAYAN ALI as a
‘CASE STUDY’.

Asim Sajjad Akhtar, a renowned professor at Quaid-e-Azam University, wrote in his paper how London-based Shayan Ali mobilized millions of people through social media and took actions from a distance that directly impacted Pakistani politics.

This research is proof that overseas youth have become an important and prominent part of Pakistan’s political awareness in the digital age.

Banter - are you doing it right…? 🤔

Also known as ‘verbal ping-pong’, where all participants get a chance. 🏓 🙌🏼

Imagine playing ping pong with someone who isn’t holding a paddle?😬 (That’s not a game - that’s just smacking them in the face with the ping pong balls - not recommended 🥴🤦🏼‍♀️ )

Do:
✅ make sure they know you’re joking
✅ read the room and your audience
✅ laugh with them, not at them
✅ participate! It’s a 2 way street after all
✅ stop when you’re asked to

Don’t be:
❌ offensive
❌ hostile
❌ a bully
❌ abusive
❌ get personal

Banter is meant to be fun for everyone! But if you’re the only one laughing - maybe it’s time to put the paddle down 🏓 😬

COMMUNICATION IS GOOD, BUT UNDERSTANDING IS BETTER 🫶🏼

Alright y’all be honest now… who really needed this lesson? 😜 share your funniest stories!👇
