So there’s this girl at my gym who I’ve genuinely started developing feelings for. We see each other almost every day, have a laugh, talk quite a bit, and honestly, we seem to have a lot in common.

I’m Pathan and she’s a revert to Islam. I’m 29 and she’s around 28.

The problem is, I have absolutely no idea how to take things from being friendly at the gym to actually expressing my interest in getting to know her for marriage, while keeping everything respectful and halal.

I feel like she’s been dropping little hints that she might be interested too, but the last time I thought someone liked me, I completely misread the situation and ended up getting hurt and taken advantage of.

So naturally, my brain has decided to overthink absolutely everything this time. 😂😭

I’m a pretty simple guy. I’m not interested in playing games or wasting anyone’s time. If anything, I’d genuinely like to see whether there’s potential for something meaningful, InshaAllah.

Part of me wants to take the chance and ask if she’d be comfortable getting to know each other over a coffee somewhere public, with marriage intentions made clear. The other part worries about making things awkward, especially because we see each other at the gym so often.

My question is, how would you approach this situation in a halal and respectful way?

Sisters, I’d especially appreciate your perspective. How would you feel if a guy you regularly spoke to at the gym approached you with genuine marriage intentions?

And brothers who’ve been in a similar situation, how did you go about it?

I’d genuinely appreciate some advice because apparently I can find the confidence to lift weights but not to ask one woman for coffee. 😭😂
