Guys, question. My birthday is coming up, and I’m looking for ideas on where to go solo for a low-key weekend or something to do. I live in Virginia.
The past few birthdays have been pretty hard for me. Most of my close friends have moved away or are busy with their families, and birthdays tend to remind me that I’m getting older and still not married or have kids. I usually end up staying home, but this year I really want to do something different and make better memories instead. Any recommendations?
So here’s the thing:
A local lad just got married, yet his Muzz profile is still active. Make it make sense.
The local lads who do match me look unkept and older than my dad. They’re 30 but look 55/60, have zero passion or motivation, no basic enthusiasm, and absolutely no photography mannerism. They genuinely look like they were dragged by their hair to take a picture. To top it off, they know my family and my brothers, but still decided to match anyway.
I joined FB Dating, and again, a lad who knows my family matched me. I’m Sunni, he’s Shia. He knows my family, knows the situation, and still thought matching was a good idea.
The one local lad I actually wanted to marry turned into a coward and walked out on us getting married. Yet he’s been trying to contact me ever since, talking to me like we’re just friends. I respond because a part of me hoped time would fix things, but I’m stepping back now. I’m creating clearer boundaries and letting him do the chasing, properly, and for the right reasons.
And then there are the families who adore me, see me as a good woman, always talk about me getting married… but don’t have a son my age who’s actually compatible.

Being single sucks sometimes but honestly sometimes I prefer to be single and make my own decisions and do what I want. Everyone around me hates their husband and they just feel it’s another responsibility. Would I like someone so I feel less lonely? Sure. But I think I’ll be ok. At the end of the day, not everyone gets married. Alhumdulilah I was lucky to be married in my past and I have now have my children. I’ll keep praying for a husband but all doors are blocked for now. I can’t even swipe on marriage side for more than a few days without getting anxious.
