Before marriage, take time to understand your partner’s background, values, character, loyalty, trustworthiness, emotional maturity, financial expectations, boundaries, and life goals.

During courtship, pay attention to consistent patterns of behavior. Don’t ignore repeated dishonesty, manipulation, disrespect, a constant obsession with their beauty/image, luxury, or money (extravagant shopping habits) over building a stable home, or attempts to isolate you from family and friends. If Islamic faith is important to you, notice whether the girl/woman remain committed to its principles even when emotions run high.

Also remember that some people can appear extremely loving and caring in the beginning, only for their real face to appear over time. Frequent temper outbursts, extreme reactions to small issues, controlling behavior, silent treatment, emotional abuse, and habitual lying (pathological liars, schezos, deluded myth creators) are all red flags 🚩 and warning signs that shouldn’t be ignored during the courtship.
