Question:
As-salāmu ʿalaykum, Sayyidi. What power did Sulaymān عليه السلام draw upon, or tap into, when he asked the man of knowledge to help him?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi:
I don’t know. I would imagine that it was a tremendous amount of power. Anyone who seeks knowledge from the heavens will always be more powerful.
In that example, there was the knowledge and ability of the ʿifrīt and the maradah from the jinn world. These were not necessarily believing jinn, but those who came under the dominion of Sulaymān عليه السلام through the power of the ring.
Then there was the learned servant who had acquired knowledge from the scriptures of Banī Isrā’īl. This was not even from the realities of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, yet through that knowledge, he possessed greater power than the jinn.
The devil and his minions may display an appearance of power, but that power only trickles down from an already existing source. It is not independent or self-sustaining.
Whatever power they manipulate or display occurs only by Allah’s permission. If Allah wanted to stop it, He could stop it immediately. However, He allows them to create their fitnah, mischief, and evil, and this becomes a testing ground for everyone who encounters it, falls victim to it, or becomes prey to its deception.
The ways of the heavens and the knowledge of the heavens require connection, cleanliness, spiritual testing, and everything necessary to gain access to heavenly realities.
This is especially important in the last days because the people of evil believe that they are illuminated. They follow systems of so-called illumination, secret societies, and organizations, believing that they receive knowledge from the “master builder.”
But they are not receiving from the true Master Builder. This is the deception of the devil upon them through rituals and various practices. Everything they do is based upon that deception.
They go out and tell people that they are connected to heavenly realities. But the true people of the heavens require something entirely different: cleanliness, good deeds, good character, and righteous actions.
Anyone claiming to represent the heavens while failing to meet those criteria is lying. This is why we say that the deceivers are coming. The deceiver operates through deception. He will claim to represent the heavens, and people will believe that by following him, they are following something heavenly.
But if it is not founded upon good deeds, righteous actions, and good character, then it cannot be from Allah. Allah is goodness, generosity, purity, justice, and love. Anything representing those realities must reflect the same characteristics.
Deception, however, revolves around claims of “master builders,” building this and demolishing that. This becomes part of the great deception spreading across the earth.
Now, everything is deception. Everything is a lie. Things are not what they appear to be. That is the nature of the jinn world—the gaseous world. Gas is unstable by its nature, and everything associated with it is unstable, inconsistent, and often makes no sense.
This is part of the deception of the last days. Great deceptions are opening upon the earth.
Everything must therefore be based upon good character and learning from the heavens and heavenly realities. Through those realities, a person may be dressed with a power whose speed is faster than the speed of thought.
This demonstrates the importance of remembering the teachings of Sufism that are opening upon the earth. Much of the world is pursuing power through secret societies, handshakes, and organizations, while the devil deceives them into believing that they have access to that power—but they do not.

Fun fact:
Murphy's law states that the best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question; it's to post the wrong answer.
What are some examples where you applied this law?
