"tafsir surah 3 :37 English version. What is the connection between destiny, fortune, ownership, and the Lauhul Mahfuz record?"

In Surah 3:37 (Surah Ali 'Imran), the English translation describes Allah graciously accepting Maryam, placing her under Zachariah's care, and providing her with sustenance, leading to her statement that God provides without measure Quran Garden.

According to Tafsir Ibn Kathir, this verse highlights that Maryam (Mary) was divinely nurtured and protected after being dedicated to the Temple by her mother.

The connection between destiny, fortune, ownership, and the Lauhul Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet) is a core theological concept in Islam that underpins Maryam's statement "They are from God".

  1. Ownership (Mulk)
In Islam, absolute ownership (Mulk) of the heavens, the earth, and everything in between belongs solely to Allah. Humans do not possess true ownership of wealth or provisions; they are merely trustees or stewards of what Allah has entrusted to them. Because Allah is the absolute Owner, He can provide for anyone limitlessly without diminishing His treasures.

  2. Fortune and Sustenance (Rizq)
Fortune (sustenance or Rizq) includes wealth, health, status, and even spiritual gifts like faith. The verse emphasizes that Allah provides "without limit". In Islamic theology, your fortune is already pre-determined and fixed before you are born, encompassing exactly when, where, and how you will receive your provisions.

  3. The Lauhul Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet)
The Lauhul Mahfuz is the sacred, preserved tablet where Allah has recorded the decrees (Qadar) of all things—past, present, and future. It contains the exact measure of everyone's destiny, including their lifespan, actions, and fortune.

The Theological Connection
The connection between these four concepts rests on how divine decrees operate:
The Record: Allah's eternal knowledge and decrees are recorded in the Lauhul Mahfuz. Therefore, a person's fortune and destiny are written on this tablet long before they are born.

The Will: Because Allah is the Ultimate Owner of the universe, He acts according to His absolute Will.

Divine Decree in Action: When Maryam received out-of-season fruits in her sanctuary, Prophet Zachariah asked where they came from. Her response, "They are from God", confirms that her sudden fortune was a direct manifestation of what Allah had decreed for her in the Lauhul Mahfuz.

The Lauhul Mahfuz serves as the ultimate ledger of Allah's plans, but it is His ownership and active will that execute those decrees into the physical world, bringing fortune to whomsoever He wills, beyond human comprehension.
