When looking for marriage, we should remember that the process itself should reflect the seriousness of what we are seeking. Apps like Crapchat and long private conversations can easily create situations where people become emotionally attached before families are involved, and sometimes weeks/months pass without any real commitment or clarity. It also means there are increased chances of being led on by that person as people argue "there are plenty of fish in the sea" and to not "place all your eggs in one basket".
Marriage is not built on endless chatting, banter or just words - it is built through actions, sincerity and taking the correct steps.
Brothers: if you are serious about a woman, involve your family, speak to her wali and show through your actions that your intentions are genuine. Don't ask for her Snap - would you feel OK with your sisters chatting with guys like this?
Sisters: don't feel shy about involving your family early. A man who is serious about you and marriage, should not be afraid of accountability or taking the respectful route, and taking initiative, leading by example.
Of course, even when things are done the right way, sometimes it may not work out due to incompatibility, and that is part of Allah SWT's plans. It is not always rejection - sometimes it is redirection towards your naseeb.
At least then we move forward knowing we tried to do things in a way that brings barakah, and we have no regrets or accumulation of sin.
Start with sincerity and grounded steps, and inshaaAllah this will lead to increased barakah, rahmah and mawaddah 🤲
