It is narrated from Imam Musa al-Kadhim (peace be upon him):
“Hold firmly to supplication, for indeed, praying to Allah and asking Him for help can avert calamity, even if it has already been destined and decreed, with nothing remaining but its execution. So when Allah, the Almighty, is called upon and asked to avert the calamity, He averts it.”

A young girl was playing at home. One night she looked up at the sky and said (Maa ahsunas-samaa), with a "pesh" on the word ahsun which her father took as a question: "What is most beautiful in the sky?"
Sitting beside her, he answered, "The stars."
But she replied, "Baba, I wasn't asking a question. I was amazed by the beauty of the sky."
Her father then told her to say "Maa ahsanas-samaa" with a "zabar" instead, which turns the phrase into an exclamation of wonder.
When this incident was reported to Imam Ali (AS), he foresaw that people from different backgrounds and contexts could easily misread the language. So he wrote some rules on a piece of paper, called his student Abul Aswad (ad-Du'ali), and told him to apply the same structure to all the words of the Quran.
This is how the science of Ilm-e-Nahw thr classical Arabic grammar came into being.
The marks zair (kasra) zabar (fatha) and pesh (damma) are the vowel signs that tell us how to pronounce each Quranic word.
