read books that have nothing to do with design. watch films without checking your phone. visit museums even when you don't understand half of what you're looking at. get lost in cities. have conversations that change your vocabulary. fall in love. get your heart broken. cook something badly. learn another language. become interesting before you try to make interesting work. your portfolio can only borrow from the life you've actually lived.

Is it okay to send Hi to strange girls?
I’ll be blunt, whether you agree with me or not.
Finding a guy on Muzz (living in Pakistan) with a genuinely strong background feels like finding a needle in a haystack. You scroll through a hundred profiles before one stands out. Half the time, you realise they didn’t even grow up in Pakistan, which honestly makes sense because I personally feel that sharing the same level of communication, especially when English comes naturally, makes it much easier to build a deep connection. You can absolutely have a great relationship otherwise too, but for me, it’s important.
Then there are the rare few where your first thought is, shukar hai, koi achi parhi likhi family ka banda mila. Someone who carries himself well. Not an extremist uncle with a rigid traditional mindset. Someone with presence, good stature, and the kind of personality where you instantly think, “This could actually work.”
In my one month subscription, I found exactly two such people.
And guess what?
Neither of them actually wanted to get married.
They were on a marriage app… just to see what’s out there.
I get it. Marriage is permanent. Everyone is scared of making the wrong decision or wondering if there’s someone better waiting around the corner. But there will always be someone better out there.
What frustrates me is that when things are actually going well, they panic and disappear. They’ll happily stay friends, though.
Honestly, I think I’ve made more friends on Muzz in one month than I did throughout university.
Yaar… this is a shaadi app.
They’ll tell you, “Shukar hai, I finally found someone like you,” and complain about meeting paindu, uncultured, incompatible people. But when they finally do find someone they genuinely connect with…
Do they move forward?
No.
They need more time to look around. What if they miss someone “better”?
It’s exhausting.
Some days, I genuinely feel like deleting this app.
