What Makkah Leaves Behind
We often ask a pilgrim,
What did you bring back from Makkah?
Dates.
Zamzam.
Gifts wrapped with care.
But perhaps we are asking the wrong question.
The better question is:
What did Makkah leave in your heart?
Some journeys fill a suitcase.
This one fills a soul.
You travel thousands of miles, yet the greatest distance crossed is the one between the heart that arrived and the heart that returned.
Did it leave you quicker to forgive?
Quicker to repent?
Slower to judge?
Softer with people?
Closer to Allah?
Perhaps that is why the most beautiful stories of Hajj are often left untold.
Not because the pilgrim has nothing to say
But because some moments between a servant and Allah become too sacred for words.
For the greatest souvenir of Hajj is not something you can carry in your hands.
It is a heart that, by Allah's permission, refuses to return exactly as it was.

Who is still waiting on that dua you made months ago? Don't give up, Allah's timing has never been late a single day in history.

Can we normalize saying Astaghfirullah after we swear? If we can slip into sin so easily, we should be just as quick to return to Allah.

🌿 THE BEAUTY OF SURAH ṢĀD (سورة ص) 🌿

Surah Ṣād reminds us that every believer will face trials, but those who constantly turn back to Allah with patience, humility, and sincere repentance will never be forsaken. It is a Surah that fills the heart with hope, strengthens faith, and teaches us to trust Allah's wisdom in every situation.

✨ Beautiful Lessons from Surah Ṣād:

• Patience in hardship: The story of Prophet Ayyub (عليه السلام) teaches us that no trial lasts forever. No matter how severe our difficulties become, Allah's mercy is always near for those who remain patient.

• The power of sincere repentance: Prophet Dawud (عليه السلام) immediately sought Allah's forgiveness after recognizing his mistake. True honor lies in returning to Allah with a humble and repentant heart.

• Gratitude for Allah's blessings: Prophet Sulayman (عليه السلام), despite his immense kingdom and power, never forgot that every blessing came from Allah. Gratitude increases blessings and keeps our hearts humble.

• The danger of arrogance: Iblis was destroyed by pride when he refused Allah's command. Surah Ṣād reminds us that arrogance distances us from Allah, while humility elevates us.

• Reflect upon the Qur'an: Allah describes the Qur'an as a blessed Book revealed so that people may reflect upon its verses and take heed. The Qur'an is not only to be recited but to be understood, lived, and followed.

🤲 Reflection:

May Allah make us among those who remain patient during trials, grateful in times of ease, quick to seek forgiveness after mistakes, and steadfast upon the Qur'an. May He fill our hearts with humility, strengthen our faith, and grant us success in this life and the Hereafter.

Āmīn. 🤍
