what’s meant for you could disappear behind a hundred closed doors and still find the one left open exactly where you’re standing. until then, live your life, chase your dreams and grow into someone you’ll be proud of. relax.

<CUSTOM_BOLD>Quick disclaimer:</CUSTOM_BOLD> I’m pursuing a path toward psychiatry in med school, with a background in biomedical science and research. I’ve spent years thinking deeply about mental health from both the academic and lived side, including my own experience with therapy. I’m not a psychiatrist, and this isn’t medical advice.
———————

I think we’ve gotten way too comfortable treating the brain like a broken machine and the human being like nothing more than chemicals.

Medication can help. Therapy can help. But I don’t believe serotonin, trauma pathways, and diagnostic labels fully explain consciousness, suffering, or healing.

I think psychedelics, especially psilocybin, are forcing science to ask questions it avoided for a long time: What is the self? Why can one profound experience change years of depression? And is consciousness really just something the brain creates?

Maybe mushrooms are not the answer. But I think it’s foolish to dismiss them simply because they challenge our assumptions.

As a Muslim, I believe the human being is more than a body. We have a ruh. Science can study the brain beautifully, but that does not mean it has explained the person experiencing the brain.

I want a future of mental healthcare that takes biology seriously, trauma seriously, spirituality seriously, and the mystery of consciousness seriously.

Some people need medicine. Some need therapy. Some need community. Some need God. Most probably need more than one.

Healing should be bigger than symptom control.

Healing is liberating.

Healing takes longer when we keep chasing immediate ease to the discomfort we feel in our hearts.

I pray that every disturbed soul finds the courage to sit long enough in their discomfort to find healing.

Every ending is simply a quiet bridge to what comes next.
In psychology, our minds naturally grieve the familiar when a chapter closes. But closure is not a void; it is space. Just as the brain must prune old neural pathways to build stronger ones, life sheds old seasons to make room for your growth.
You aren't starting from scratch. you are starting from wisdom. Sit softly with the quiet transition, take a deep breath, and trust the process. Every sunset proves that endings can be beautiful, and every dawn promises that light always returns. 🌿✨
