The First Sip of Water
Every evening, Ramadan teaches the same lesson.
The world rushes toward the table.
The believer reaches for Bismillah.
How strange.
A sip of water.
Something we pass by every day without a second thought...
becomes a gift too precious to describe.
Perhaps that is Ramadan's quiet miracle.
It does not only make us hungry.
It teaches us to notice.
To notice the blessing in a date.
The mercy in a sip of water.
The kindness of a meal we once hurried through.
The world teaches us to look for bigger blessings.
Ramadan teaches us to become grateful for smaller ones.
And perhaps hearts are never richer than when they can say Alhamdulillah before the first sip...
and mean it with every part of themselves.
