Someone laughed when I said, if that man should consider marrying a single mother like me. But I smiled because I was thinking of Khadijah.

Khadijah was a widow. A single mom. Fifteen years older than the Prophet Married twice before. And she was the one who proposed to him. She didn’t shrink herself to be chosen. She stood in her worth and chose him.

If the Prophet himself honored and loved a single mother why should I feel small? We single mothers didn’t choose this path. It is our fate. Can you imagine everything we’ve been through just to become who we are today? We outgrew a thousand versions of ourselves to gain this wisdom. How many heartbreaks did we endure because of the Qadr written for us long before we were born? And we accepted it all.

It’s the same with those who look down on our traditions. Islam never called them haram. Like mahr, if it’s not for you, walk away. But arrogance? "Arrogance is rejecting the truth and looking down on people." Sahih Muslim
Arrogance should have no place in our heart. Ma Allah protect us from it..

Allah permitted divorce even though He dislikes it, because He knows what balance means. What fits one land may not fit another. That is not a flaw. That is wisdom. Respect what Allah has allowed for others.
