As always, there are a lot of scam artists everywhere, and finance & investing are no exception.

Recently in North America there was a major cybersecurity breach where around 170M drivers licenses across USA and Canada were exposed to cyber-criminals, who are now using these stolen IDs to fool people into giving money, including here on Muzz.

I myself have been approached by one scammer here on this app, going by the name George McBride. I took him for a ride, asking KYC question, licensing and regulatory, etc and he failed all of them with copious verbal diarrhea. He even showed me a Canadian DL, claiming it was him (it wasnt, I made phone calls).

This shouldn't be needed to be said, but do not invest money in anyone offering investment advice and services here on this app.

Serious and credentialed investment advisors arent here, looking for clients.

Some people believe DNA or family bloodline doesn’t really matter. I believe it does.

My grandfather was a Persian businessman. During the British colonial period, he used to travel by sea, bringing products from Iran to the Indian subcontinent (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka). Then he would buy products from the subcontinent, sail back to Iran, and sell them in Arab countries and Iran.

After the British left the Indian subcontinent in 1947 and the country was divided into India and Pakistan, my grandfather and his family eventually settled in East Pakistan, which is now Bangladesh.

My uncle became a businessman, but my dad took a completely different path. He joined the government and worked as a diplomat. His job took him to different countries, and he eventually ended his career in Saudi Arabia. He was never involved in business.

But I spent a lot of time with my grandfather when I was growing up. I loved listening to his stories — travelling by sea, doing business with people from different countries, buying and selling products, and dealing with completely different cultures. Something about that life always fascinated me.

After 17 years of corporate jobs, I finally quit the 9-to-5 life and chose a completely different path. I became an entrepreneur, and honestly, I love it.

And one of the things I enjoy most is sharing my stories and experiences with my two boys.

I've never told them what they should become when they grow up. I always tell them the same thing: Do what you love, and do what makes you happy.

Recently, I gave my two sons $3,000 ($1,500 each) to buy whatever they needed for the upcoming school year. I knew they didn't actually need that much money. Part of me wanted to see what they would do with it.

The first question my younger son, who is only 9 years old, asked me was:

“Baba, what stock should I buy?”

I was like… Wait, what? You want to invest in stocks? 😂

Honestly, I was surprised.

We talked about it, and I gave him my opinion. I told him that if I were in his position, I would consider putting some of it into something that could hold its value over time.

I even told him to think about gold or silver.

And that moment really made me think about my grandfather.

Maybe it's not just about DNA. Maybe some things really do travel through generations-the way we think, the things that excite us, our curiosity about business, money, travel and the world.

Because otherwise…

How does a 9-year-old kid hear “school shopping money” and immediately think about investing in stocks? 😂
