Vivek Ramaswamy belongs to the Brahmin caste. This is why he is so successful.
In India Brahmins only make up 3-to-5% of the population. Meanwhile in the US, Brahmins make up 25% of American Indians.
The caste (varna) system began thousands of years ago in India. It began as a way of classifying people accordingly to their profession. For example, a farm worker belonged to the Shudra group. Whilst a warrior belonged to the Kshatriyas group higher up in the system (see in comments).
According to some sources, people could move up and down this system. For example, a farm labourer from the shudra group could become educated and knowledgeable, and be elevated to a Brahmin. However, over time, the varna system became rigid and discriminatory and produced thousands of sub-castes. The varna system turned into a racist caste system which segregates people.
Brahmins sit at the top of this system and they hold a disproportionate amount of power, often being employed in government, civil service, judiciary and diplomatic positions.
In the 1960s, US immigration policy changed to allow more engineers and doctors into the country. Brahmins were more likely to be qualified in these fields and were therefore more likely to get entry into the US.
The people excluded from the caste system (the untouchables or Dalits) could often be massacred without punishment. Dalits were only allowed to do the dirtiest jobs like cleaning toilets. They can't drink from the same water fountain as others, they are not allowed to enter a Hindu temple, and they live in segregated communities. They are called "untouchable" because if any Hindu 🕉 touches them by mistake, they become unclean and have to undergo ritual purification. This system still persists in many parts of India to this day.
Dalits tend to be a little darker on average.
However, India is much more complex than this. And there are many other Jātis (castes/tribes) as well as the Adivasis (native tribes) who are not part of the varna system.
