Something I’ve noticed on the app is that I rarely come across people who are reverts. It always makes me curious about the different paths that brought people to Islam. If you’re a revert, I’d be interested to hear your story, what shaped your decision, and how you found your place within the Muslim community.

Sadaqah - voluntary giving. Guide me on this learning journey, please. 🙏
I live in UAE and here we have well established donation structure.... people can donate clothes (boxes are in every neighbourhood), purchase donation tickets (most malls have a stand), donate bits with purchases which are within payment structure. Self-organised donation projects are prohibited as of my knowledge. One can give individually, but not collect for distribution.
Here is my confusion... I've noticed frequent fb posts asking for financial help or provision help. As well I'm in few WhatsApp groups for ladies and in some they post donation requests.... for paying electricity bill, paying rent, paying legal fees, buying food and so on... As a revert I don't know... is it normal practice? To ask for receiving Sadaqah.
I happen to speak with one lady in need and realised that she lives better than myself, with plenty of opportunities to resolve financial struggles if she would wanted to act on it. Yet person kept me hostile with sad talks and guilt tripping to help. I've decided to do small participation... just to find that my bank flagged transaction/purchase as not save. That was a gift voucher to UAE based local grocery store.
That surely rased red flag for me in terms of misuse of Sadaqah, benefiting without extreme need and potential scam operation all together.
I want to remain respectful to people in need and avoid unnecessary judgment. Please guide me what is good practice and bad practice in terms of voluntery donations?

There is something beautiful about the journey of a revert that people don't always see.
The quiet moments of learning.
Making mistakes and trying again.
Learning how to pray.
Hearing Arabic words that once meant nothing and slowly finding comfort in them.
Leaving behind things that were once normal because your heart has changed.
It may not always be an easy journey, but every small step towards Allah matters.
And perhaps one day you'll look back at the person you used to be and quietly say, Alhamdulillah for not leaving me where I was.
