Alhamdulillah for new beginnings 🕋🤝 Whether you're new to Islam or seeking guidance, here we share experiences, offer resources, and foster a sense of belonging on your unique journey as a convert.
This Eid is 4 days not 3:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“The Day of Breaking the Fast (Eid al-Fitr), the Day of Sacrifice (Eid al-Adha), and the Days of Tashreeq are our festival days, the people of Islam.”
📚 Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud.
Muhammad
Al-Shawkani said:
“This hadith is evidence that the remaining Days of Tashreeq after the Day of Sacrifice are also days of Eid.”
It is stated in Al-Muntaqa Sharh al-Muwatta:
“As for the Days of Tashreeq, they are the three days that follow the Day of Sacrifice.”
Eid, like Ramadan even after being a Muslim for over 20 years is difficult for me. Some of it is admittedly self inflicted and class/culture based. Or perhaps it is just personal preference, my Islam remains deeply personal and not so social. There always comes multiple moments within my local Muslim environment and community where I quietly feel an outsider. Silicon Valley is rough that way, you honestly couldn't really ask for a more broad and welcoming ummah, it has all the acoutrements and then more. So I wonder. We obviously all live in the shadow of predominantly non-Muslim even secular social world, here in the USA.
Insh'allah, He will provide for my dua to settle my heart of this disquiet and unease. It is strange that I still feel am outsider on the one hand, while others feel me too much of an insider, since I know many of our community luminaries, and some know me by my reputation or my service in or to the community. Now as the leadership generation shifts away from my own, and I am an "Uncle" in more than one community it shifts dynamics.
At one point I was the one who the Feds watched (they still do, they never stop watching), while at the same time I was one of the people others came to as they also came under scrutiny, justifiably so or otherwise. I sometimes wish my journey were less unique, perhaps it would have been an easier balance between my various worlds. But this is my circumstance, the one I was both born into and made (and made from).
Sabr remains.... enough, and as Allah swt is my refuge the more reflective and quiet, I become. Our Prophet pbuh, and his temperance of manner, with our brothers and sisters never ceases to amaze in a world such as our own, where sabr, and adab and seemingly a gentle formulation of Iman are so rare a thing. My own experiences with life are not a gentle one, to my "born muslim" brother's and sister's, you take what you have for granted. You have no idea how precious and fragile a world you have, even though the savagery of history takes this moment to make us victims. The rest of the world outside of the dar al Islam may seem appealing, but trust me, it is and can regularly be a vicious, savage and brutal place, far, very, very, very far from the peace and grace the deen can and does provide.
Insh'allah, Peace be Upon You
Oh Allah! 🤲
Grant us a beautiful life that is free from debt, free from poverty, free from enemies, free from despair, free from anxiety, free from sins, and blessed with a supportive work environment!
Ameen. 😭🤲

What do you think about the saying: Take the woman who understands you and not the one who loves you.
مارأيك في المقولة : خذ المرأة التي تفهمك ليست التي تحبك.
Good books for reverts…. Go!
Don’t wait for wealth to give. The Prophet (PBUH) said: ‘Guard yourself from the Fire even with half a date.’ Your small help matters hugely."
Whoever memorizes ten Ayat from the beginning of Surat Al-Kahf will be protected from the Dajjal.) This was also recorded by Muslim, Abu Dawud, An-Nasa'i and At-Tirmidhi. According to the version recorded by At-Tirmidhi
Whoever recites Surat Al-Kahf on Friday, it will illuminate him with light from one Friday to the next.) Then he said: "This Hadith has a Sahih chain, but they (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it." Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr Al-Bayhaqi also recorded it in his Sunan from Al-Hakim, then he narrated with his own chain that the Prophet said: مَنْ قَرَأَ سُورَةَ الْكَهْفِ كَمَا نَزَلَتْ، كَانَتْ لَهُ نُورًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَة»
Whoever recites Surat Al-Kahf as it was revealed, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection.
The Revelation of the Qur'an brings both Good News and a Warning
The Revelation of the Qur'an brings both Good News and a Warning
In the beginning of this Tafsir, we mentioned that Allah, praises His Holy Self at the beginning and end of matters, for He is the One to be praised in all circumstances, all praise and thanks be to Him, in the beginning and in the end. He praises Himself for revealing His Mighty Book to His Noble Messenger Muhammad ﷺ, which is the greatest blessing that Allah has granted the people of this earth. Through the Qur'an, He brings them out of the darkness into light. He has made it a Book that is straight, neither distorted nor confusion therein. It clearly guides to a straight path, plain and manifest, giving a warning to the disbelievers and good news to the believers. This is why Allah says:
وَلَمْ يَجْعَل لَّهُ عِوَجَا
(and has not placed therein any crookedness.) meaning, there is nothing twisted or confusing about it. But He has made it balanced and straightforward as He said;
قَيِّماً
((He has made it) straight), meaning straightforward,
لِّيُنْذِرَ بَأْسًا شَدِيدًا مِّن لَّدُنْهُ
(to give warning of a severe punishment from Him,) meaning, to those who oppose His Prophet and disbelieve in His Book, He issues a warning of severe punishment hastened in this world and postponed to the world Hereafter.
Whoever recites Surat Al-Kahf as it was revealed, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection.
