- Speaking faith outwardly while concealing disbelief or insincerity in the heart (Al-Baqarah 2:8–10).
- Lying or being dishonest in speech and promises (“When they speak, they lie” – Hadith also echoes this trait).
- Breaking promises and commitments after making them (Al-Baqarah 2:27).
- Pretending to do good deeds for show, not sincerity (Al-Nisa 4:142).
- Lazy or reluctant in acts of worship, doing them only when seen by others (Al-Nisa 4:142).
- Seeking to deceive or manipulate believers and others (Al-Baqarah 2:9).
