Today one of my Muslim coworkers sought out my advice about a certification for which he will take an exam tomorrow (the same exam I took a few weeks ago, in case you were following my posts).
I shared my experience about the exam with him and we talked. Then I said (just to tease him) that in case he didn't pass he'd lose his job and I would take over his position. 😜
And then he said the sweetest thing. He was like: It's all good. With you at least it stays in the family. 🥹

Salam everyone,
Last month was truly life-changing for me.
I was working Lyft, struggling to make ends meet and trying to figure out what my next step was going to be. Then one day, I picked up a rider and we started having a conversation. He told me he was the GM of a company (I won’t disclose the company for privacy).
I told him I was a manager and had recently moved to the area. About 20 minutes into the ride, I took a chance.
I had my resume with me, and I simply told him:
“Hey sir, if you have some time, please take a look at my resume. If a position ever opens up at your company, please keep me in mind.”
Four days later, he called me.
He offered me an interview for a management position.
That conversation completely changed the direction of my life.
Now, I’m only in my second month with the company, and I’ve already made it to 2nd place in performance and revenue.
I know it’s only month two, and there’s still a long way to go. But I’m proud of that because I work just as hard as everyone else. I show up, I learn, I push myself, and I take every opportunity seriously.
Sometimes you just have to take the shot.
You never know where a 20-minute conversation, a resume, or simply having the courage to ask might take you.
I’m grateful for the opportunity, and I’m just getting started. 💪
