🤍 Do We Really Know How To Read People’s Character 🤍

من أكثر الجمل التي أسمعها بعد الخطوبة أو بعد الزواج أو حتى بعد انتهاء علاقة هي جملة واحدة تتكرر بألف طريقة مختلفة قال إنه كان حنونا ثم اكتشفت أنه لم يكن كذلك وقالت إنها كانت تقدر الحياة الزوجية ثم اكتشفت أنها لم تكن كما قالت وقال إنه مسؤول وقالت إنها صبورة وقال إنه يخاف الله وقالت إنها متواضعة ثم ينتهي الأمر بجملة واحدة فقط لقد خدعني وكلما سمعت هذه الجملة سألت نفسي سؤالا مختلفا قليلا هل المشكلة دائما أن الناس تكذب أم أننا فقدنا القدرة على قراءة الإنسان فأصبحنا نصدق الكلمات أكثر من السلوك ونسمع الوصف أكثر مما نلاحظ الحقيقة

One of the most common sentences I hear after engagements marriages or even the end of relationships is always the same just told in different words He said he was kind but he was not She said she valued marriage but she did not He said he was responsible She said she was patient He said he feared Allah She said she was humble Then it all ends with one painful sentence I was deceived Every time I hear it I ask myself a different question Is the problem always that people lie Or have we simply forgotten how to read people choosing to believe descriptions more than behavior and words more than reality

أعتقد أننا نسأل السؤال الخطأ منذ البداية نحن نسأل الإنسان من أنت مع أن هذا السؤال لا يمكن لأحد أن يجيب عنه بصدق كامل لأن كل إنسان يرى نفسه بالطريقة التي يتمنى أن يكون عليها أو بالطريقة التي اعتاد أن يراها بها الناس ولذلك لا يكون السؤال الحقيقي ماذا يقول عن نفسه بل ماذا تقول أيامه عنه لأن الأيام لا تجامل أحدا والسلوك لا يحفظ النصوص التي يحفظها اللسان

I think we ask the wrong question from the very beginning We ask people Who are you Yet no one can answer that question with complete objectivity We all see ourselves through the person we hope to become or through the image we have grown comfortable believing The real question is not What does this person say about themselves The real question is What do their ordinary days quietly say about them Because days do not flatter anyone and behavior cannot memorize speeches the way the tongue can

الغني الحقيقي لا يستيقظ كل صباح ليبحث عن طريقة يقنع بها الناس أنه غني وصاحب العلم الحقيقي لا يشعر أن قيمته تتوقف على عدد الشهادات التي يذكرها في كل حديث والرجل الواثق لا يحتاج أن يخبر الجميع أنه رجل والمرأة التي تعرف قدر نفسها لا تجعل كل صورة محاولة لإثبات قيمتها لأن الشيء الحقيقي غالبا يعيش بهدوء أما الشيء الذي نخاف فقدانه فنظل نعلنه باستمرار

A truly wealthy person does not wake up every morning searching for ways to convince people that he is wealthy A truly knowledgeable person does not measure his worth by how many qualifications he can mention A confident man does not constantly announce that he is confident And a woman who truly knows her value does not turn every picture into proof of her worth Real things often exist quietly While the things we fear losing are usually the ones we keep trying to advertise

وهذا لا يعني أن كل من نشر صورة بجانب سيارة فاخرة يدعي الغنى ولا أن كل من تكلم عن نفسه يخدع الناس فالحياة أعقد من أن تختصر في قاعدة واحدة ولكنها دعوة لأن نفهم أن الإعلان عن الصفة ليس دليلا على وجودها كما أن الصمت ليس دليلا على غيابها فكم من كريم لم يحدثك يوما عن كرمه وكم من متواضع لم يقل أبدا إنه متواضع وكم من إنسان ملأ الدنيا حديثا عن الأخلاق ثم سقط عند أول اختبار

This does not mean that everyone who posts beside a luxury car is pretending to be wealthy Nor does it mean that everyone who speaks well about themselves is being dishonest Life is far more complex than simple rules It is simply a reminder that talking about a quality is not proof of possessing it just as silence is not proof of its absence How many generous people have never spoken about their generosity How many humble people have never called themselves humble And how many people spoke endlessly about character only to fail at the very first real test

ولهذا أتعجب دائما عندما يركز الناس في أول لقاء على الكلمات الجميلة أكثر من التفاصيل الصغيرة مع أن التفاصيل هي المكان الذي تختبئ فيه الشخصية الحقيقية انظر كيف يتعامل مع والديه عندما يختلف معهما انظر كيف تتحدث عن شخص لن يستفيد من مدحه أحد انظر كيف يتعامل مع موظف بسيط أو عامل نظافة انظر ماذا يفعل عندما يغضب لأن الإنسان يستطيع أن يمثل اللطف لساعتين لكنه لا يستطيع أن يمثل أخلاقه طوال عمره

That is why I am always surprised when people pay more attention to beautiful words than to small ordinary details Those details are where real character quietly hides Watch how someone treats their parents when they disagree Watch how a person speaks about someone who cannot benefit them Watch how they treat a waiter a cleaner or a stranger Watch who they become when they are angry Because anyone can perform kindness for two hours But no one can perform character for a lifetime

ولعل هذا من أعظم الحكم في قول النبي ﷺ إنما بعثت لأتمم صالح الأخلاق لأن الأخلاق ليست كلمات تحفظ ولا شعارات تكتب في ملفات التعارف ولا عبارات تعلق في السير الذاتية الأخلاق هي ما يبقى عندما تسقط الأقنعة وعندما تتعب النفس من التمثيل وعندما يظن الإنسان أن أحدا لا يراقبه إلا الله

Perhaps this is part of the profound wisdom behind the words of the Prophet ﷺ “I was only sent to perfect noble character.” Character is not a speech to memorize nor a slogan for a dating profile nor a sentence for a biography Character is what remains after the masks fall after pretending becomes exhausting and after a person believes that no one is watching except Allah

ومع ذلك فإن هذه الحقيقة لا ينبغي أن تجعلنا نشك في كل الناس ولا أن نخاف من كل علاقة لأن الله لم يخلقنا لنعيش أسرى الريبة وإنما أمرنا أن نحسن الظن مع الحكمة وأن نتوكل عليه مع الأخذ بالأسباب وأن ننظر بعين الرحمة لا بعين السذاجة فالإنسان قد يخطئ في قراءة الناس مرة ومرتين ولكن المؤمن لا يفقد قلبه بسبب تجربة واحدة لأن الذي بيده القلوب هو الله والذي يكشف الحقائق في وقتها هو الله والذي يحفظ عباده من الشر إذا صدقوا معه هو الله

Yet this truth should never make us suspicious of everyone or afraid of every relationship Allah did not create us to become prisoners of doubt He taught us to have good expectations while remaining wise To trust Him while taking the right steps To look with compassion without becoming naive We may misread people once or twice But a believer does not lose hope because of one painful experience The One who holds every heart is Allah The One who reveals truth at the right time is Allah And the One who protects sincere hearts is Allah

وربما لهذا لا أدعو الله أن يرزقني إنسانا يتحدث كثيرا عن أخلاقه بل أدعوه أن يرزقني إنسانا إذا نسي أن يخبرني من هو أخبرتني أفعاله عنه وإذا صمت عرفته مواقفه وإذا غاب عن عيني بقي أثره في قلبي لأن أجمل الصفات ليست تلك التي تسمعها بل تلك التي تشعر بالأمان في وجودها دون أن يشرحها لك أحد

Perhaps that is why I no longer ask Allah for someone who speaks beautifully about their character I ask Him for someone whose actions introduce them before their words Someone whose silence says more than speeches Someone whose presence brings peace without needing to explain why Because the most beautiful qualities are not the ones you hear They are the ones that make your heart feel safe before your mind even finds the words

اللهم ارزقنا بصيرة ترى ما وراء الكلمات وقلبا لا يخدعه المظهر وحكمة تميز بين من يتحدث عن النور ومن يحمل النور في أفعاله واجعلنا نحن أيضا ممن تعرف أخلاقهم قبل أن تعرف أسماؤهم ولا تجعلنا ممن يجيدون وصف الخير أكثر من عيشه

O Allah grant us insight that sees beyond words Hearts that are not deceived by appearances Wisdom that distinguishes between those who speak about light and those who carry light in their actions And make us among those whose character is recognized before their names are known Never let us become people who describe goodness more beautifully than they live it

ويبقى السؤال الذي يشغلني

لو لم يسمح لك أن تقول أي شيء عن نفسك ولو اختفت كل الكلمات التي كتبتها في ملفك الشخصي وكل الصفات التي تخبر بها الناس من تكون فهل ستكون حياتك وحدها كافية لتعريفك

And the question that stays with me is this

If you were never allowed to describe yourself and every word in your profile disappeared today would your daily life alone tell people who you truly are
