Most people stand with power, money, and status, not with good character. A poor person's kindness is seen as weakness, while a rich person's selfish behavior is often praised.
Self-interest has become so common that people usually support the powerful instead of the truth.
Remember, true honor is not in bowing for personal gain, but in living with truth, self-respect, and good character. Don't live like a buffalo—live like a lion.

Asking from all the male
I wanted your honest opinion from a man's perspective.

I'm a widow with children, and I live in the UK with my kids. I don't have my parents or close family here—only my sister and brother-in-law. Naturally, they feel responsible for looking out for me and my children.

I was talking to a man for marriage. We both became serious about each other. Our families met, we met each other's children, and we were planning to get married soon.

During the family meeting, my brother-in-law politely said at the beginning, "If you don't mind whatever I'm going to ask, I apologise in advance." He then asked him questions about his past and about information he had found regarding his companies. According to what my brother-in-law found, there were fraud-related matters connected to his business history, including what appeared to be some more recent open cases in his name. Because of that, he wanted to ask him directly and give him the opportunity to explain. I had no idea my brother-in-law was going to ask those questions, and I wasn't involved in it.

After that meeting, the man ended things. At first he told me it was because of the children, but later he admitted that wasn't true. He said the real reason was that he felt my brother-in-law had investigated him, judged him, and invaded his privacy. He said he couldn't be with a family that "spies" on him.

I apologised and explained that I had no idea this was going to happen and that I would never have wanted him to feel disrespected.

My question is this: if you were serious about marrying someone, would being asked about your business or legal history be enough to end the relationship? Or would you first discuss it with the woman, especially when she didn't know anything about it?

I'm genuinely asking because I want to understand a man's perspective, not because I'm looking for someone to take my side.
