The “Age of Ignorance” (Jāhiliyyah) in an Islamic Perspective — Qur’anic Reflections
In Islamic thought, the term Jāhiliyyah refers to an “age of ignorance”—not simply a historical period before Islam, but any time when moral clarity, justice, and guidance are replaced by arrogance, desire, and distorted values.
Some contemporary scholars and preachers use this concept to reflect on modern society, suggesting that certain patterns of behavior resemble a renewed form of ignorance, even in technologically advanced times.
The idea is not that knowledge is absent, but that moral and spiritual direction can become clouded.
Qur’anic basis for the concept
The word “ignorance” (jahl) in the Quran is often connected to behavior rather than intelligence.
One key verse:
“Is it the judgment of the time of ignorance (Jāhiliyyah) they seek? And who is better in judgment than Allah for a people who have certainty?” (5:50)
This verse criticizes systems of judgment based on desire, injustice, or cultural bias rather than divine guidance.
Another description of ignorant behavior is:
“When they are told, ‘Do not cause corruption on the earth,’ they say, ‘We are only reformers.’” (2:11)
This highlights a mindset where wrongdoing is rebranded as “progress” or “reform,” even while it produces harm.
The Qur’an also contrasts ignorance with reflection and restraint:
“And when the ignorant address them harshly, they say: ‘Peace.’” (25:63)
Here, “ignorance” is tied to emotional impulsiveness, arrogance, and lack of self-control—not lack of education.
Understanding “ignorance” today
From this perspective, “Jāhiliyyah” is not limited to history but can appear whenever:
moral truth is replaced by personal desire
justice is shaped by power rather than principle
arrogance overrides reflection
actions are justified without accountability
Some modern Islamic thinkers argue that any society can drift into forms of ignorance when spiritual awareness is weakened, even if it is scientifically advanced.
A key takeaway
The Qur’anic message is not that societies are simply “ignorant” or “enlightened,” but that every generation is tested in how it balances knowledge with moral responsibility. Awareness alone is not enough—direction and integrity are what define guidan
What do these chavvy id iots achieve from rioting? They're just destroying their own country! And for what!? So they can stop foreigners from destroying their country?? Make it make sense!
“I finally apologize to all them men I hustled. Just realized the poor men were mentally challenged. My bad 😭”
Why Love Cannot Be Found
Love is not something we find by searching for it in others. It begins as an inner journey, a struggle to know oneself, heal oneself, and grow into the person one is meant to be. What we cultivate within often shapes what we attract into our lives.
When we live with sincerity, self-awareness, and purpose, we become more likely to connect with those who share the same depth and values. In this way, love is not merely found—it is reflected. The more we embody the qualities we seek, the more likely we are to meet them in another.
This attitude kicks in when you go to the kitchen in the morning and you're out of butter, and you have to go to Asda because you can't just eat toast with only jam on it. 😹

🗣️👂 Loving to be Praised
Allah warns in the Qur'an: "Think not that those who exult in what they have brought about and love to be praised for what they have not done... for them is a painful punishment." (3:188)
Key Points:
✅ Seeking praise for something you didn't even do is a deeper level of Riya.
✅ It stems from extreme arrogance (Kibr).
✅ A believer feels shy or uncomfortable when praised, fearing they haven't done enough for Allah.
