I like how the indonesian/malayasian sisters wrap their hijab. I've never met one in person, but y'all look so effortlessly elegant online. I predict this will be on trend in summer of 2026.

Salaam girls, I've got some savings and have decided to treat myself to a nice designer handbag. What brands would you suggest? I don't want any popular brands like Gucci, LV, YSL, Coach and the likes. Would like something different, I'm thinking around £2-3k budget wise, but can top this up a little dependent on brand and style.

Would need something that goes with everything because you better know if I'm dropping this amount on a bag it is getting worn as much as possible 😂

"Just in Case" JACK.
(Just a sharing!)

---->>> It's time to talk about bag design and craftmanship!
Coz it matters!

A bag with lots of compartments for proper gear organization is great!
The best bag designs include lots of: pouches, compartments, and gear storage options.

Unlike a duffel bag,
A bug out bag SHOULDN'T be randomly stuffed as full as possible.

In a real-world survival situation, you WON'T have time to dump all your supplies on the ground to find what you need.
Instead, look for a bug out bag with lots of separate compartments for: food, clothes, and specialized gear.

THAT WAY, YOU'LL BE ABLE TO ACCESS THOSE ITEMS QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY.

The more zippers, loops, pockets, and straps your bag has, the more organized it. This is EXTREMELY helpful when you need to find something fast.

For example, the best packs typically have the following:

1.) Top Lid Pouch,
2.) Hydration Pouch,
3.) Hip Belt Pockets,
4.) Water Bottle Side Pocket,
5.) Document Holder Pouch/ Pocket.

Avoid packs made up of one big compartment (an organizational nightmare).

=============

---->>> COLOR MATTERS!!!!

Bag color might not seem critical.
But! TO AVOID BEING NOTICED, color choice is everything!

Bright colors & other unique features; stay away from anything that will attract unwanted attention!
Stick with colors that blend with your surroundings:

1.) Camouflage bag for wooded areas,
2.) blacks, grays, browns (for crowded urban areas; looks like an ordinary backpack).

NO neon colors like orange or green!
The LESS conspicuous, the BETTER.

=============

---->>> MOLLE Bag!

MOLLE= MOdular - Lightweight - Load-carrying - Equipment system.

This allows you to hang lots of gear on the outside of your pack. So, you can purchase a smaller, more affordable pack with confidence.
That way, you can always add equipment to the outside of the bag to expand its carry capacity.

The latest generation of MOLLE is made from laser-cut cloth. This helps to reduce stitching issues that may compromise the integrity of the bag.

The point is:

You place the items you'll need MOST on the outside of your bug out bag with this system.

Few popular items you can hang from MOLLE:

1.) Survival KNIVES,
2.) Ammo Pouches,
3.) Canteen Pouch,
4.) Radio Pouch,
5.) Medical Pouch,
6.) Small AXE.

=============

---->>> The Craftmanship!

What we need from the quality durable materials:

1.) Can withstand a ton of abuse,
2.) Won't rip or tear from a branch snag,
3.) Water resistant.

Most are only water resistant, not beyond: WATERPROOF (we might swim with the pack).

Beyond the fabric (such as: ripstop, ballistic, kodra, etc.), there are other material related considerations to investigate such as:

1.) Strength Indicators,
2.) Stitching,
3.) Thread Count,
4.) GSM,
5.) Weaves,
6.) Coatings & Treatments.

A recommendation to you:
600D Poly.
Coz, it's a good bug out bag fabric at a FAIR PRICE.

Now, where most bags fail is not the fabric. Instead, most bags FAIL due to having CHEAP ZIPPERS and CLIPS and LOUSY STITCHING.

=============

Zippers & Clips!

---->>> If you get the bag and the zippers feel & look CHEAP and SMALL, the clips are FLIMSY or feel WEAK when you hold them in your hand ....... RETURN IT IMMEDIATELY!

We need STURDY zippers and zippers tabs that won't break or jam, clips that are large, strong, and can take some real abuse.

=============

Stitching & Construction!

---->>> Construction means stitching and seams. The seams are the most VULNERABLE part of any bag.

Look a bag for a lot of double stitching at the high-stress point.
Single stitching at these locations is a sure sign of POOR craftmanship!

Double stitching is good, but! You want to find reinforced stitching at critical wear locations.

The locations of maximum stress tend to be where .......:

1.) The shoulder pad strap meets the top of the bag,
2.) The shoulder pad and lower strap meet,
3.) The lower strap meets the bottom of the bag.

These 3 locations are where all the weight from the bag is transferred to YOUR SHOULDER.
So, ensure there is ample stitching taking place.
