Most of my life I listened to and enjoyed love songs (pop) but about 5 years ago, I started getting jaded and realized I can't stand em anymore. It's funny, but I think about these songs and they feel...cheap and inauthentic. I hear them and I think, these people all just sing about love, praising love, worshiping love as this all perfect ideal thing. Nobody can criticize love, so you can never go wrong writing a song about it. It's the one thing that has universal appeal. So now I hear love songs and I think, okay this person wants to build up their career by writing another love song. There's no real sincerity behind the words, just a mega marketing production machine. I'd rather hear something creative and original, almost any other subject is better in my mind. Is this like a normal thing everyone goes through?

I do still have a soft spot for some songs from my youth but the new stuff is awful.
