Short real story..before I divorced
So you know how you are invited to family weddings but at times you don't really know who they are? So I did go to one such wedding and the bride was gorgeous 😍. I wasn't sure actually which side I was related from as it was from my inlaws side. 2 weeks later I meet this girl and she is supposed to be my ex's cousin.. I kind of pretend I know who she is and tell I haven't seen her for ages! She gives me a look and tells me that I came to her wedding 2 weeks back 😬. I was like 'Err yeah... that kind of slipped my mind as it's not like a meet up' 🙈
I sware it was like 2 different people!. I mean makeup is fine to highlight your existing looks... but let's not go overboard that you are not recognisable 😁

so i’ve been lowkey spiraling about this lol.

i’m just a fast-reply person. like, notification pops up and my brain goes must clear red dot NOW. i physically can't let chats pile up. it’s not even about them, it’s a me problem 💀

but lately i noticed... when i reply fast and they take hours/days, i feel kinda dumb? like i’m not being valued? so i started mirroring their energy. they take 3 hours? bet, i’ll wait 3 hours too.

ngl it feels SO wrong to me. sitting on a message when i already know what to say is literal torture. but when i don’t mirror, i feel like i’m the only one trying.

so here’s my q: is mirroring healthy boundary-setting or am i just being petty??

bc part of me thinks “match their effort = self-respect”. but another part is like “girl u’re just playing games now and that’s not u”.

idk. if u’re naturally fast at replying, does forcing urself to slow down just to ‘mirror’ make sense? or are we just abandoning our own communication style to feel ‘even’?
