I genuinely think I come on Muzz just to ruin an otherwise perfectly good day.
He asked me to meet him at 5 PM in an area almost 25 km away from me. I explained that it would take around two hours of travel in total and I had to leave for work at 8 PM, so I asked if we could choose a place that was more convenient for both of us.
His response?
"Take leave today and consider it as your honeymoon."
WTH
That wasn't funny. It was inappropriate.
A normal response could've simply been, "Take a sick leave if you can," or "Let's plan for another day or time."
That wasn't the issue by itself it was just the final straw.
From the start, everything was about him. When it came to planning the meeting, everything revolved around him. He picked a place because he wanted cheesecake and because it was close to his house. Never once did he ask what location would be convenient for me or what I'd like to eat. Ironically, I don't even like cheese or cheesecake but how would he know when he never asked? He even suggested I come over to his house to see his cats as if that's a normal thing to ask someone you've barely met.
It made me realize how self-centered some people can be. Basic communication isn't difficult. Ask what the other person is comfortable with. Consider their time, their preferences, and their boundaries.
Respect isn't shown through big gestures. It's shown in the small things listening, communicating, and treating the other person with consideration.
If someone can't show basic respect and consideration before marriage, it's hard to believe they'll suddenly develop it afterward.
