A question to men with South Asian background - do you genuinely prefer women that have a fair complexion?
My background is Pakistani and I’m on the duskier side and get very little interest from Pakistani men, however my parents want me to marry a Pakistani man. I don’t think this will be possible. Even when I expanded my search to Indian men the same beauty standards exist. I’m a well educated working professional who is kind and genuine, and people wonder why I’m not married yet but it’s societal standards that are making it impossible.
What’s funny is that I myself have a preference for dusky men, so Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan men are attractive to me and they are also a lot less concerned with “fair complexion”. So how do I get my parents to be supportive of me marrying a non-Pakistani when Pakistani men generally speaking are too concerned with complexions!
