I was recently speaking to someone about boundaries. They mentioned wanting to maintain close, one on one friendships with the opposite gender after marriage. This included things like hanging out alone, private messaging, and inviting them over to the house.
Personally, that just doesn't sit right with me. I feel like once you are committed or married, your emotional energy, privacy, and close companionship should belong to your spouse. Boundaries with the opposite gender aren't about control. They are simply about protecting the peace, trust, and respect within the marriage.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it's healthy to maintain close, one on one opposite gender friendships once you're seeking marriage, or do you think clear boundaries are essential for long term peace? Let me know below! 👇🏽
